000 Words | I'm On My Way. Berk was buzzed. It was his first class as a Professor at Hogwarts. He never once thought that this is where he would end up. He ended up following in his mother’s footsteps instead of his father’s but that was a good thing. He doubted that his father would now want him to be a politician like him though he doubted they would have ever crossed paths despite his father’s ambitions. Opening the classroom door Berk made his way to his desk and looked around the room. It was familiar and friendly just as he remembered unlike the gloominess of the potions room in the dungeon. Students started milling in and he smiled warmly at each in turn and once the room was full Berk cleared his throat. “Welcome all to Charms. I am Professor Berkley Applyard. I hope you enjoy this branch of magic and find it as interesting as I do.” The class nodded and a few of them smiled at the Professor. Berk smiled back at him students and took a deep breathe. “Now you will probably hear this quite a bit from other professors, in particular your Transfiguration Professor but you really have to concentrate on what you are doing to perform any style of wand magic. It is not just about saying a spell and waving your wand around. Actually it applies to non-wand magic as well as your Professors will tell you. You really don’t want the venomous tentacula to get a hold of you or accidentally put pomegranate juice in your strengthening solution instead of salamander blood.” There was a slight titter in the room and Berk grinned at the students. “Now there are probably a few witches and wizards out there that don’t see the difference between Charms and Transfiguration because at times the lines can be blurred but there is a distinct difference and that is why it is not taught as one subject but as two. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two subjects is?” Won’t You Let Me Know. |
