Astrid had only arrived in Hogwarts not so long ago. The beginning of term, and she had yet to truly explore the grounds; between getting used to to teaching, and learning what she needed to know about her students. The new Transfigurations professor had been determined to remedy that situation, and so she found herself eager to explore. She had made her way out to the grounds earlier, taken her her swan form, and gracefully rose up into the air to search the skies of the school. Her powerful wings carried her elegantly through the winter air. as she took in the beautiful lake, that the Durmstrang ship had once been moored in, the forest that was long rumoured to be home to werewolves, centaurs, and giant spiders. She flew across the Quidditch pitch, where so many future international stars had cut their teeth on the sport... Astrid had never played quidditch, she'd only ever liked flying on her own wings.
She turned to circle the castle itself, looking in on the Ravenclaws, and Gryffindors briefly as she passed their windows. It was around then that she remembered why it was swans migrated further south than Scotland for the winter, as the cold began to discomfort her, to chill her down to her bones. still, she managed to gracefully fly herself to the Owlery. The presence of a swan caused a stir amongst several owls who didn't know what to make of her, until her form morphed back into the blonde woman she was, a smile adorning her face, even as she shivered in the cold air. Her eyes fell upon the other in the Owlery and she offered her bright grin to them.
"Hallå!" She greeted cheerfully, in her own language.

Being out and about and not within the confines of the castle walls, Minki had decided that dressing warmer would be a very good idea, and that definitely would not include wearing anything silk against his skin since it was a material that tended to take on the temperature of the air around it, and the flying instructor was none too keen on having ice against his skin. Therefore, he was dressed in a pair of well-fitting jeans with a cream colored turtleneck sweater and boots. On top of that, he wore a knee length coat in black, fur lining the neck and wrists, and over that he wore his heavy cloak, hood up as he made his way to the owlery as he was expecting a letter and maybe some goodies from his parents.
Entering the owlery, Minki smiled as he saw the familiar Long Tailed Jaeger sitting there, that smile a rare thing to see on the usually stern and serious flying instructor. But, seeing something of such familiarity to him, it gave him a feeling of home, and in that feeling, he couldn't help but smile. He approached the bird that was perched on a neatly wrapped package with a note tied to its leg. Carefully, he detached the note and gave the bird something to eat, letting it fly off to perch and rest.
Minki was just about to open the package when he heard the stir of the owls around him, wondering what could have possibly disturbed them. Looking over his shoulder, he caught a glimpse of the swan before it turned into a human, causing him to fully turn and face the person that now stood before him. She said something in a language that he didn't quite understand, but he determined that it was some sort of greeting. "Hello," he responded, voice clearly sporting an Asian accent but not enough to make his words indistinguishable. He then noticed her shiver, and being the gentleman he was, Minki removed his cloak and stepped over to her, wrapping it around her. "There now. Can't have you catching your death of cold out here. By the way, the name's Minki. Minki Kim," he said, introducing himself.

Astrid smiled as she took in the words, and the appearance of the handsome Asian man before her. He must have been another teacher at the school, and judging by his polite offer of his own cloak he was a gentleman, at that. Astrid was a very independent young woman, usually, but it was hard to deny that she was cold, and that she wasn't doing well in the cold. She nodded gratefully taking the cloak from the man and helping him to wrap it around her. "Thank you" She said mildly, still shivering as she looked at the man before her. He had a very upright demeanour, seeming to be quite a serious person, even as he smiled to her. She wasn't sure exactly what he meant by catching her death but she dismissed it as some expression that she hadn't learned.
Astrid blushed a little, not really prepared to have met someone while she was shivering cold, and in need of this kind of help. She was a proud woman and this was an embarrassing situation. Still she felt that she should introduce herself to him. "I'm Astrid Østergård. I'm the new Transfigurations professor." she said mildly, she stepped out of the direct cold of the opening, not wanting to stand in the cold any longer than she had to. "And who are you?" She asked sweetly to the handsome man before her.
She had seen the stately bird that evidently carried this man's message as it departed. "Was that your bird? It was very beautiful." She complimented, finding the more exotic messenger very interesting. She had never seen its kind before and she found herself curious about the creature.
