He was back. He was home and finally away from his father. The summer had dragged along slowly due to the presence of his father, but thanks to his friends and quidditch he was able to survive enough to return for his Sixth year of schooling. He was dressed simply in a white v-neck t-shirt and a pair of blue denim jeans, as he strode through the courtyard.

He was headed towards the Quidditch pitch, a place that was always soothing for him. He had goals for the end of the year, and although they were rather large he felt he could achieve them if he had a plan in place. The only thing that remained was both figuring out a plan, and also finding out whether that plan would fall into place in the year to come or not.



He had been keeping an eye out for larger hazards such as walls and moving people as he moved, but he hadn’t been paying attention to the smaller details of the aging castle so as he put his foot down, and unsuspectingly found a missing cobblestone, he found himself losing his balance and face planting upon the cobblestones that remained. As the laughter of those around him grew, so too did the blush on his face.

Nathaniel wasn't sure what Daniel was raising his eyebrow at but it still managed to get a sheepish look out of Nathaniel. The laugh that came next, however, was enough to have Nathaniel smiling again and he laughed at the other boys question.

"Maybe. Maybe, not. You need to pay extra for such secrets," he said teasingly as the other boys snowball hit him. Picking up another snowball, he moved closer to Daniel and tossed another snowball before shaking the snow off of his shoulders.

He always felt a little like Daniel somehow saw more to him than Nathaniel even saw in himself. It was a slightly disconcerting feeling and quite flattering. Nathaniel didn't think he could really measure up to whatever image of him Daniel had in his head.

Another day, another detention. Hogwarts really needed to come up with another punishment because this did nothing for him. Boring him to death wasn’t going to make him wanna behave and stop getting into trouble. He just spent that time planning more pranks and he had a good one in mind for his fellow Gryffindors. Nothing mean, not like anything he did to the Slytherins, but it was still going to be hilarious. James couldn’t wait for this detention to be over, so he could run and tell his friends his plans. He really didn’t know how they managed to get out of this detention when they had just as much involvement in that stunt as he did, but it didn’t bother him. He would gladly keep his friends’ names out of everything he did if he could. James didn’t mind taking all the blame to keep them out of trouble.

The professor glanced up at him every once in awhile and he pretended to be working on the lines he was supposed to write. He’d written maybe three in this entire time and didn’t really care what the professor would do when she found out that he hadn’t done what he was supposed to. By now, she was probably used to it, though. James did what he wanted to do more than what he needed to do. Unless it had to do with Astronomy or Transfiguration, he didn’t care one bit. Finally, the professor told him he could go. Throwing the parchment on her desk, he ran out of the room quickly, not listening as she yelled at him to walk.
