Older boys held on painfully to the second year's arms, dragging him across the school grounds... well except for when they passed a teacher in which case they at least allowed him to walk upon his own two feet rather than drag him across the grounds. It was moments like these that was starting to make him hate this school. He had gotten picked on enough before he knew exactly what he was... and now he was getting punished again for something that was completely out of his control.

He winced as their grips upon his arms got tighter, no doubt at all that come tomorrow there would be purple marks where their fingers had once been. The next thing he knew though he was being forced upon his knees, and his head thrust into the water. He struggled against their hold on him, trying hard to bring his head above water... but nothing he did seemed to work.

And as if to make things worse... the person holding his head into the water was Venus... one of the prefects from his house....

Ollie, for all the time he spent perving and prowling after guys could be mistaken for someone without principles. It wouldn't be hard, his morals did go out the windows a bit when he saw attractive males. But he had limits, in that respect. Hos own lack of respect for authority, or desire to work particularly hard when a guy caught his attention didn't translate into letting anyone get away with murder. When Ollie heard the commotion at the lake, therefore, he looked over. he didn't see two muscular, wet young men, and Venus Ollivander. He saw a gang of snakes trying to hurt, or maybe even drown one of their own. He wasn't having it.

Ollie didn't know if they intended to drown the other or just to hurt him and send a message the way bullies did. Either way he raised his wand. "Expelliarmus!" He shouted, And because the victim was held so tightly by the other boys, the spell took hold by flinging Venus back into the water. Ollie began his approach as the vein girl emerge red, spluttering and dripping He was showing his lion-like side now, fully expecting to have a fight on his hands. "Locomotor Mortis!" he called and leglocked the second of the bullies in the confusion. He'd never have won a fair fight but he didn't need to, the leglocked bully flailed and fell into the water. "Run, kid!" He called out to Lazarus. wand moving back to Venus, the sixth year didn't look happy. Ollie wasn't keen to duel two on one with older students, so he hoped Lazarus would run before the other boy was done pulling his leg-locked friend out of the shallows.

He gasped for air when he was able to pull his head from the water, not too sure what exactly had happened to cause such a distraction and as every fibre of his being shouted for him to run, his body thought otherwise. His breathing was already rapind as if he had been on a run and his lungs burned at the intake of oxygen, He wanted nothing more than to run but he found it impossible to do so.

So instead of running he found himself watching as a normal student such as himself took on a queen snake such as Venus…

Ollie hoped he'd drawn the attention of the group now. For whatever else he was, overly sexual, flirtacious, vain and flippant, he was still as brave as any Gryffindor. Ollie wasn't going to be able to stand toe to toe with a career bully two years his elder. Luckily Venus was concerned with helping her friend who had been leglocked pulling him up, else he'd never have breathed. That was good, Ollie had never actually wanted to harm the guy, just to keep him from bullying Lazarus. Ollie kept his wand trained on Venus, motioning with his head. "Go find a professor!" He yelled to the younger student. He knew he was screwed here and this kid needed to get out of the water.

Once Venus' cohort was upright the older girl pressed an attack with a few spells. It was obvious that she wasn't going to abide some meddling lion. Ollie was just focused on self defence. His vision was narrowing down to just himself and Venus. He wasn't going to win this duel but he could hold delay things. and just hope that Lazarus would be okay. Ollie inwardly cursed his desire to help in this moment He was definitely going to end up in the hospital wing. Soon a curse struck him. and he felt his body stiffening. Petrificus totalus, a full body-bind.

He sat there, his hair soaked and dripping down upon his shirt until Ollie's voice broke through his stupor. He was still struggling to breathe but he was no longer a completely lost little boy. He struggled to get up upon his feet, and coughed as he ran, trying to escape the situation as he struggled to come to terms with what had happened. His mind reliving the moments before he was drowned almost as if trying to determine whether there was anything that he could have done to save himself from this most deadly situation.

Ollie wasn't going to take any more chances he short off a hex at Venus and ran as well, taking a different route to the fleeing victim, Ollie hoped he could draw the others toward the greenhouses, Surely the Herbology professor would be there, and so would help... and failing that he would hopefully draw the vengeful slytherins toward himself rather than their housemate. Of course Venus Ollivander wasn't stupid and chances are she wasn't going to let her gang of thugs get caught out. Not that Ollie was thinking that clearly.

He looked back only once to make sure the bully he'd leglocked wasn't being left to drown, and he wasn't. That was good though Ollie didn't doubt that this would be spun as something Ollie was trying for.
