Del was is no way a pessimist and she would usually try to see the good in situations and in life in general. But her life could not have taken a worser turn. She had graduated from Hogwarts and was going to apply for a job in the Ministry, most likely Department of International Magical Cooperation. She had a knack for languages after all and that was where it would be of most use.
She had a reasonably good relationship with her parents but they were more interested in their own standings then her welfare. More interested in how they were perceived by the wider wizarding world and of course Del had to stuff it up for them, well that is if the anyone found out and she was sure they would make sure that nobody did.
It wasn’t as if she deliberately went and go attacked by a werewolf she doubt that many people would. She guessed it was nice enough of them to take her to St Mungo’s to get treated but it still hurt that they abandoned her there with a note and told her not to come home. Her hope of joining the Ministry was over and she had been disowned. You would think that it couldn’t get any worse. It did.
She broke her wand. She had no idea how it happened she just did. She had always loved her wand and she always took the best care of it. She needed to get a new one, she didn’t feel right without one. She also knew that she couldn’t go to Olivanders to get one, they would not serve ‘her kind’.
She had heard of a place in Knockturn Alley that would supply her with one. She had never been into Knockturn before. Her parents wouldn’t be caught dead there. Slipping into the Alley she made her through the dingy dark Alley and finally found the store she was looking for Brando’s Wands and Supplies. Drawing in a deep breath she pushed open the door.

Another day of business. The mornings were usually quiet. The types of people that bought from him usually preferred the afternoon or evening. Vito had an 17 hour of the day service. He was 'closed' at some hours but if people really needed him, they could ring the bell. Making wands and providing people with them was all what he was about. But like all great artists, he lost himself in his own work. Now he was getting older, it was starting to wear him down more. Sonia was right, he perhaps needed an apprentice that was here more than during the breaks. During mornings like this Miria was at muggle school. But she was home during the peaks of the day: after 3 till 6 and after dinner till closure. He then had to watch a 5 year old and the shop. "Just a few more hours of peace and quiet," he mumbled to himself as he finished the coating of his newest wand and checked it for any imperfections. Then an unexpected visitor arrived. Vito's odd eyes gazed up in curiosity. Usually he didn't get any visitors at this hour. Most were working or sleeping. A young woman who looked a bit distressed entered his small and shabby shop. "Good morning, welcome to Brando's. How can I be of your service?" tag: delphina vine

The store was small and a little dingy but there was something about it that made Del feel comfortable. Maybe because it was small that she found it comfortable. She was used to space as her parents house was very roomy. There was something about it that reminded her of her old common room but she wasn’t exactly sure what.
It wasn’t long before what she thought was the owner appeared. He didn’t look very old but at the same time he didn’t look it. She guessed he was in his 30’s but looked not much older than her.She gave him a shy smiled after he welcomed her to his store.
“I broke my wand and I need a new one and I can’t go to Ollivanders, well not anymore,” she said her her dark eyes darting around taking in her surrounding. It was all very interesting. So very different from the pristine Ollivanders but while Ollivanders tended to be a bit sterile this place had a bit of character, well in her eyes anyways. “Can you help me please?”

Vito rose his eyebrow when the young girl told him she couldn't got to Ollivanders anymore. He had his suspicion why but he wouldn't comment upon it or question the girl. He respected his clients privacy. "Don't worry, you're in good hands," he said with a friendly smile. Ollivanders was a great shop once but it held too tight on it's golden standards. The art of wandmaking was creativity. Something which had gone lost in the ages. But not for Vito. "Do you still have your old wand? Could you show it to me?" Perhaps he could mean more to this girl than just a new wand. Sometimes with time, he managed to repair a wand. Or he could see what kind of wand it was and suggest some replacements. Or trying something entirely new. delphina vine

#### ♦ @vito The man seemed kind and didn’t ask her why she couldn’t go to Ollivanders anymore. She was grateful for that as she really didn’t want to go into it just yet. She was still adjusting to her new life and living state and apart from her parents and maybe the person that turned her nobody knew what she was. She doubted that her parents would say anything. He asked if she had kept her old wand and if he could see it. Her eyes welled up a bit but she nodded and reached into the small bag that she had slung over her shoulder and carefully took out the pieces of of her old wand and placed in on the counter in front of him. “It is made of apple wood and was 11” with a tail hair of a unicorn. Ollivander said that when I got it that apple wands are rare and that are not prone to dark magic. He also recommended that I might like to try to learn other languages. His advice was good as I found it quite easy and speak many languages now including Mermish and Goobdygook.” She knew she was prattling a bit but she had really loved her wand and she was proud of what she had accomplished with it.

Vito nodded and took a good look at the wand when it was put on the counter. Ah~ Ollivander's crafts work, he could always recognize the man's work. Ollivander and Vito were no rivals really. They held a complete different opinion on what a wand should be. He checked the damage and scratched his chin, noting everything the woman told him. "I see," he mumbled as he put down the wand back again. "There are a few things we could do, madam," he started going to business. "Depending on your wishes and how much you're willing to spend on your wand of course. What kind of magic would you like it to focus on?" He walked from behind his counter and opened a drawer that showed wands he made. "We could find you a wand that matches your own. Another option would be trying something entirely new. I could give you a week trial if you don't like it you can return it while it isn't damaged of course," he suggested these first two options before he walked over to another part of the shop. "We could also make one to your wishes, an entirely new one. And last I might be able to mend your wand. But it'd take time and with that coin," he said as he rubbed his fingers together, mocking the movement people made when taking about money. "What would you prefer?" delphina vine

#### ♦ @vito Galleons were always going to play a part in anything that she did when it came to this. She was not wealthy by any means but she did have some. Not from her parents and she doubted that she would take anything offered from them which she knew that they wouldn’t. Well not her father, Seneca Vine would never deem to support a werewolf whether it was his daughter or not. Her mother might out of sympathy and maybe a little bit of spite. Her parents may act they part of the loving couple to the public but in truth it was a battle of wills and one upmanship with them. Luckily both of her grandmothers left her a little bit of gold and it was definitely coming in handy now. She just had to decide what she wanted to do. She loved her wand and as she looked down at it she couldn’t really see how it could be repaired and she suspected that a repair would cost more than a new one would. “My best subject at Hogwarts were always Transfiguration,” she gave a small sad smile at that as it kinda of suited her situation at the moment. “So I guess my focus should be on that.” She straightened herself up and watched as he went through the options. She knew very little about wand and wand making but she found it very interesting. In her mind she weighed up the options in her head. “I love my wand I really do but I don’t want to go through the repair process because of time and also money. I would probably have the money to pay for the repair but I don’t really want to spend it as I think that it might cost more to repair than to get a new one.” she said speaking the thoughts going through her head out loud. “I don’t really want to match it either as it might not work or suit me as the other one did. I got that wand when I was 11 and I am now 18 things have changed since then and I have “changed”. What ‘chose’ me then may not choose me now. I think I would like to get a new wand altogether. A new wand for a new life…”

This girl had gone through some things lately.Vito could tell that but he wouldn’t bring it up. People’s backstories didn’t interest him. It mattered that they were here and willing to buy from him. Most clients were glad that he respected their privacy. As long as he didn’t ‘know’ he was selling to a criminal, the Ministry couldn’t punish him. He smiled and nodded when his client said she wanted a new wand for a new life. “Shall we try some wands then? As core I’ll advice a Thunderbird tail feather. They came in last month, I finished the wands last week. Fir and Ebony are the woods you want to try. Fir wands are particularly suited to Transfiguration, and favour owners of focused, strong minded and occasionally intimidating demeanour. Ebony has an impressive appearance and reputation, being highly suited to all manner of combative magic, and to Transfiguration. The ebony wand’s perfect match is one who will hold fast to his or her beliefs, no matter what the external pressure, and will not be swayed easily from their purpose,” he explained as he opened a cabin from which he rolled a plate on which several wands were presented. "Try some of these. See if they lay good in your hand and support your magic," he said. "Don't pick with your eye but with your soul." delphina vine note: 2 fir wands , ebony wand, ebony wand , ebony wand, 3 fir wands

Del’s ears picked up the word Thunderbird. She had heard of the creatures and read a bit about them in her Care of Magical Creatures textbook from Hogwarts. She had never heard of their feathers being used as a wand core however but then Ollivander only seemed to use Dragon, Phoenix and Unicorn and nothing else. She wondered how this man had gotten the Thunderbird feathers from as the bird was native to America and it would not be very accessible.
“Thunderbird feathers? How did you get them?” she said excitedly, as she picked up the first wand that was laid out in from of her which was light in colour and she suspected that it was made out of fir.The wand grew quite warm in her hand but it did not feel right to her.
“Um, no” she said putting the wand back down and reaching for the next one which she suspected was also made of fir but a darker shade than the last. It too did feel right to her at all and she placed it back down next to the other fir wand. “I don’t think that fir is the right wood for me.”
Her eyes turned to black coloured wands in front of her. They were both beautifully crafted and elegant looking. She remembered that one of her classmates in Hufflepuff had had an ebony wand that Del had always thought was lovely. She felt drawn to the two wands though it was the second of the two wands that picked up first. The moment that she picked it she could feel power and yellow sparks shot from the wand. Pointing the wand at herself she changed the shirt she was wearing from red to yellow.
“I think this is the one,’ she said with a grin.

The shop owner grinned proudly at the reaction on thunderbird feathers. "Business secret," he winked and left it at that. He had his people and smugglers who just went into the wild and plucked the feathers from nests. It was better to get them from the wild than a farm but also rather risky. There had been enough people electrocuted. Vito studied the reaction between witch and wand with each she picked up. Meanwhile he tidied the counter. He shrugged when fir was ruled out. It was a rather particular wood after all. Very picky. It wasn't s surprise they didn't sell well. One of the ebony wands did seem to have found it's new owner. Vito turned to her with a grin. "Good," he said. "How do you plan to pay for it? Thunderbird feathers ain't cheap. And no offense but usually young adults haven't got the best jobs yet." His eyes went through the shop, thinking of what Sonia said. He went to the wall of materials and grabbed the pot of unicorn tail hairs. "Speaking of jobs, where did you work again?" tag: delphina vine

She hadn’t expected him to answer her question regarding the thunderbird feathers but still she couldn’t help but feel interested in the how. Looking down at the wand she also began to wonder how he was able to fit what must be a pretty big feather, into such a small and tight casing. She had never really thought about it before with her previous wand as a unicorn hair was already thin and wouldn’t take much. But a feather whether from thunderbird or a phoenix was a different matter altogether. She also suspect that a Dragon heartstring was not as thin a unicorn hair would be.
He then asked how she was paying for it and stated that her thunderbird feathers were not cheap. She hadn’t expected that they would be as she pulled out her money pouch from her robes.
“I have the gold if that is what you are asking” she said feeling a little defensive. She would not have come into the store if she had no way of paying for anything that she might purchase. His next question pulled her up though as felt a pang of bitterness for the opportunities lost to her now just because of her general nature to be kind to others. “If you must know I do not have one at the moment, not that it is any of your business. I was to work at the Ministry but that is now not an option.”
