Ginny hummed softly to herself as she watched her students filing into the classroom one by one, taking their seats, mostly with the utter despair of expression and body language which indicated that they expected nothing interesting to take place in the next hour. They were right, of course, and then again, they were wrong; history was interesting only if one chose to take an interest in it, and the redhead did her best to encourage that amongst her classes. Her success was, perhaps predictably, somewhat varied, but she consoled herself with the knowledge that she could at least be doing no worse than her predecessor, who had nearly managed to bore even Ginny to tears, despite the truly fascinating nature of the subject- although it had taken her quite a while to discover that. Finally, when she was content that the majority of her class was present, she cleared her throat pointedly to silence the mutterings which always took place at this point and began in clear tones which filled the room. "Good morning." She did not bother to wait for a reply, knowing very well that even if she got one, it would hardly be worth having. "We begin a new topic today, and one which has a great bearing upon current events, as those of you who read the Prophet will know. For the next term, we will be focusing our attention upon the Werewolf Code of Conduct, which was passed in 1637 by the British Ministry of Magic. Would anyone care to suggest what one of the main points of this piece of legislature might be?"

Charlie, much to her chagrin, arrived on time to class, though she sat in the back. She actually quite liked history, especially magical history, not that she would ever let anyone know. She glanced once to the professor as she initially addressed the class before looking down to her parchment as she pulled it out of her bag. She pretended not to listen, mostly doodling on her paper, though among the doodles she did write '1637' and 'werewolf'. She of course made no effort to offer an answer, even though she had one.

Prior to the class starting, Aaron made his way quietly into the room, taking a seat with his small group of friends, but immediately pulling out some parchment to take notes on. To be perfectly honest he much preferred taking notes upon a notebook with a pen, but he had learned the difficult way in his first year that being a nail that was not punched down would be a rather painful mistake to make. As class began he made a heading, underlining it with the same black ink that he was writing with. He was pretty sure that he knew the answer to the professor's question, but standing out was bad. It was more trouble than it was worth. So he kept his head down and his ears open, hoping someone soon would provide them with the correct answer so they could just move on with their lesson.

Frank was one of the few people who really liked history, so he was usually one of the first ones sitting down, excitedly wondering what they’d be learning that day. He was taking out a parchment and quill and wrote down Werewolf Code of Conduct as Professor Potter asked her question. Frank had an answer, but he really wasn’t sure if he was right, so he didn’t speak up right away. He looked around at Aaron and some others before deciding to answer since nobody else seemed to want to. “Attacking us,” he replied, though he didn’t sound very confident in his answer, “or at least changing us.”

Ginny grew rapidly more depressed as the silence stretched on, and she was in fact just about to give up when someone spoke up, and the redhead's heart began to make a steady journey up out of her boots again. Thank Merlin for that. At least someone was awake, although to be honest she wasn't a hundred per cent sure that she was in said condition herself. "Thank you, Mr. Longbottom!" she exclaimed thankfully. "Well, I'd say you're thinking in the right kind of areas... Would you care to elaborate a little? Something to do with attacking or changing us... Nothing too complicated."frank longbottom

He wasn’t really sure how he was going to be able to elaborate on what he had said. Frank considered it, going over what he remembered reading about the Code of Conduct in his head. “Well, in order to insure we weren’t attacked, the Ministry wanted them to be locked up for the full moon every month, somewhere secure, away from the humans.” Again, he didn’t sound very confident in his answer as Frank wasn’t completely sure if this was what she was looking for, but it was all he could think of at the moment.

"Quite so; thank you." the redhead confirmed. "The Werewolf Code of Conduct was initially introduced as a concession to the more liberal elements at the time, who didn't want to impose serious punishments on well-behaved werewolves. And while it might sound harsh in any case, there were others who would far rather have had every werewolf rounded up and imprisoned."
