It has been a while since the attack and peace had returned to the Hospital. The head of the spell damage department was however stressed as ever. Sooner or later he was going to have a burn out but he wouldn’t give in. If he couldn’t work anymore all his social contact would be cut off. He was send on a forced break by his team for the change. Usually he did these kinds of things to them but it seemed even department leaders needed someone to tell them to sit down. So here he was, at the hospital cafeteria. Usually he quickly ate in between work. Now he was forced to sit down and relax. The cafeteria staff shook their head as Alan decided on a cheesecake and a cup of coffee for lunch instead of a healthy warm meal. Now it was time to find a place to sit. He wandered about until he caught a familiar face. “Healer Albright, how are you doing,” he approached the janus thickery ward head healer with a sweet smile. The other male did look a lot better than the day of the attack. Alan was glad for that. “You look well,” he complimented his collegue. Cayden Albright was a pure soul, he was grateful people like him worked in this place. tag : cayden albright

Cayden had needed a break. The Felinas had been fed, the Malfoys treated, Bianca Brando had been given a calming draught, and Gilderoy's books had been given out to the patients in the ward that could still understand them. Everyone was doing as well as could be expected, but the place hadn't felt the same since the attack. Cayden had felt perfectly safe here still, he knew, rationally that there was no chance of the attack repeating itself. What he didn't understand though was why it had come to that in the first place. His patients were often not in touch with the world enough to truly understand what had happened but those who had been, and so, so many relatives had been as broken as he had, and so many others were wary. Some patients had even been taken home to be cared for by their families. That was bitter sweet for Cayden. At least they would be around their loved ones, but it meant he lost people he himself had cared for.
It had been a busy morning and Cayden was beginning to accept that he needed to take more breaks, that despite how fond he was of his patients it was in fact work to look after them. The Metamorphmagus' hair and eye colour were their usual, natural tone as he sat in the cafeteria, eating his own lunch. He might take the opportunity to smuggle a treat back for one of his patients, he considered if any of them deserved a little something extra.
It was the voice of the very handsome Alan Wyatt that broke his contemplation on whether or not he would break hospital rules. After the attack on the hospital it was Healer Wyatt who had made sure that Cayden was okay, even when Alan himself looked as though he was about to collapse from exhaustion. Cayden would never forget something like that. The Puckwudgie Alumnus looked up at the other man and offered a bright smile. "I am doing better, Healer Wyatt." He said meekly. "You look like you're going well yourself?" He asked shuffling over to make room for Alan, and taking a mouthful of his coffee. He found himself looking a little overlong at the handsome man, his cheeks and the very tips of his hair going ever so slightly pink.

Alan sat down and slided down in his seat. A big yawn escaped his lips, a cry for sleep or caffeine. As he couldn't sleep, coffee would do. His blue eyes turned to the long haired healer and smiled softly. The hell that had been the attack of Mungo's had one peaceful moment. After every patient was taken care off, Alan had fallen asleep against Cayden's shoulders. They'd never really talked about it. Probably because Alan decided it probably didn't mean anything. They were both utterly exhausted and just collapsed. Still it had been the most peaceful sleep he had in years. And now he was sitting across of him. "I do feel better," he smiled leaving out the reason why. The full moon wasn’t close today. The tattooed healer munched his favorite snack and enjoyed the peace for a while. From the corner of his eyes he saw Healer Albright’s hair change colour on the tips. “Your hair is so gorgeous,” he noted as his fingers slid through the locks and twirled it around his fingers. “Where do you get the patience for the maintenance? It must be quite a work.” Alan might be a Hufflepuff but although he knew patience was an important trait, he didn’t possess it. cayden albright

For all the nightmares and all the tragedy that the attack had inflicted upon Cayden, there was one thing that he had found a small, but beautiful comfort. In the aftermath, he had fallen asleep holding Alan, who was already dozing against his shoulder. Cayden looked across the table at the healer, taking in his many tattoos. As he did the colour of his eyes changed too, turning a much deeper blue as she took in the other man. He was flustered. Healer Wyatt was a very handsome man, and in this moment, Cayden's mind was blown by the attention he was receiving.
When Alan actually reached out and touched Cayden's hair the pink crept up the normally blonde man's follicles until his entire head of hair matched his blushing cheek. He shook his head lightly and it returned back to its natural colour. He was mostly just surprised. It wasn't that Cayden wasn't confident, as much as he was a sweet and gentle guy, and that gave off a meek aura, that wasn't entirely accurate. "I'm glad." he answered the other about him feeling better. "I've been a little worried" Worry was just in Cayden's nature. It took him a moment to really process the question about his hair, though. What work. He was a metamorphmagus, he could reshape his face change his skin tone his bone structure, everything. What did a few split ends matter?
"It's really not a lot of effort for someone like me." He said gently. To demonstrate he had his hair turn vivid green, shorten and spike up, taking on a much less 'pretty' look, something more rebellious and punkish, though that certainly wasn't him. He allowed his hair to grow back out and return to its natural colour. "I suppose I'm lucky in a way... It would probably look like a rats nest if I wasn't a metamorphmagus." He smiled lightly. This wasn't entirely true he did wash and condition it regularly. "Honestly, You look incredible. I think I'd be lost, trying to find an image I like for myself without being able to change as often as I like." He was admiring the man before him, looking over his tattooed skin.
"I've always liked your tattoos." he said simply. "Do any of them have any particular meanings, or fun stories behind them?" the Metamorphmagus, whose skin was very much unmarked asked.

"Woah," he watched the strain of hair turn pink further. It was a dazzling sight. Cayden’s ability surely made him unique and standing out despite his timid and sweet personality. But it was that kind heart that drew Alan in. The man did a good job as a healer, he genuinely loved his patients. Which earned quite some respect. Alan while taking care of his, tried to distance himself from them emotionally. He was more involved with his staff in that matter. The spell damage healer smiled softly when Cayden told him he had been worried. Somehow that made him feel special. He had no magic glowing hair but his chest was glowing a little. “You worry too much, silly,” he said as he leaned in to poke the other healer’s nose. “It takes a lot to break me.” It had come close that evening however but he just wanted to sound cool in front of his collegue. He didn’t know why.
“Isn't it painful,” he asked as he watched the other man’s hair change into a green spiky hairdo. Automatically he reached out to pat Cayden’s now green hair. It didn't suit what he knew of healer Albright but perhaps there was a side to him that he didn't know. Everyone had their hidden colours and inner demons. Some were just better hidden than others. Alan always tried to keep his own locked away deeply. The tattooed healer scoffed and shook his head when Cayden claimed he'd look like a rats nest without his ability. "I doubt so. You still would look incredibly cute," he said before he realized he just called his colleague cute. Such talks were unprofessional and he should not head into this direction with his thoughts. Even if it happened without himself noticing. "And even if it did. Someone like you doesn't even need good looks. It's just an extra," he whispered softly hoping Cayden wouldn't catch those words.
"Eh?" Two big eyes blinked behind round glasses and a pink colour rose on his cheeks when the other man complimented him. There once was a day that Alan was very confident in his appearance and took a lot of care in how he looked. All had changed ever since the attack. His once fair and beautiful body was ragged and scared all over. Not even the tattoos could properly hide everything. When his tattoos got mentioned, he immediately pulled his sleeves down to cover his lower arms better. He was afraid if the other looked better he might catch some scars. Alan couldn't let his condition get known. Especially after what happened and people had a bitter taste in their mouths whenever werewolves were mentioned. "Uh... Yeah... some- most of them," he said nervously. Part of him wanted to share a story or two but they felt kinda personal. Perhaps a small one. He pointed at the rose tattoo just above his left hand. "Was my nickname among my group of friends back in the day." He'd spare the details of the nickname. "Lost contact with all of them," he told the other. In truth Alan had erased himself from their memories when he took on his new life.

Cayden smiled, cheerfully at the other's reaction. Normally Cayden was a bright and happy guy but the attack still had him rattled. Talking to Alan seemed to ease that pain and make him feel more like himself again. It was doing him a lot of good just to be around this man. Cayden knew what that meant and he wasn't denying it to himself the feelings were there but he was worried about seeming unprofessional. How did the hospital feel about workplace relationships? Cayden hoped it was simply a case of it being fine if it didn't effect the staff in questions' work rate. Then he was being poked in the nose by Alan. to keep himself from visibly blushing he had to use his metamorphmagus abilities once more. Still those powers didn't prevent him from giving the other a shy smile. "I'm just glad you're okay, Alan." he said knowing it was perhaps a little unprofessional to refer to his colleague by his first name, though he wasn't too bothered at this point.
Then the other was patting his hair. "It isn't painful. It just takes some concentration to do anything intentional, or to keep from doing things involuntarily if I'm emotional." He explained gently. "It's a blessing and a curse I suppose. It means I'm always wearing my heart on my sleeve. But I tend to look good in anything, because well... I can just choose to." He was realising now just how lucky that was. He often changed his appearance, particularly when he wasn't at work he would pick different looks for different situations. Here though, he kept things consistent, the patients and his coworkers needed to recognise him.
Then he heard the other call him cute and that broke him just a little. He stared for a moment in surprise and disbelief. Was Alan outright flirting with him at this point. He was happy if that was the case but he couldn't see a world where that happened until just now. Apparently Cayden didn't need his good looks? That was just something extra... Cayden didn't believe that himself but it was a very sweet thing to say. "Thank you." He spoke barely louder than a whisper before the other continued on to address his question about tattoos. That seemed to bring the mood down. and Cayden found himself a little ulset by the idea that he had upset Alan, even accidentally.
"I don't want to force you to talk about anything personal, but Rose is a cute nickname." He said gently reflecting that he found it suited as much as it was probably given as a joke.
