William was glad to be back in school once more. Since the time he had discovered that he was magical, the school had become a sort of haven to him. He was a bit salty that he couldn't attend someplace with a stellar musical theatre program but hey, he was learning magic.

Besides, it wasn't like he had to completely toss out all his dreams. They were just delayed for a while. At the moment though, he was indulging in another little hobby of his: photography. Magical photography! It was amazing, really. He had found an old camera for sale during a Hogsmeade weekend and had bought it. Now, he was testing it out by taking pictures of things on the lawn.

Lucas couldn’t believe how quickly this year seemed to be going. It was already October; school has been back in for a month already. That could just be because it was the beginning of the year. After Christmas, things would probably slow down, but that didn’t bother him all that much. He liked school. Sure, he missed his sister when he was here, but he really liked learning magic. It was fun, although a little challenging at times. Third year was definitely a lot harder than second year had been and he was already struggling.

Currently, he was practicing Charms. The spell they were learning, though claimed to be a simple one, was giving him a lot of trouble. Sitting on the lawns, pointing his wand at a leaf in front of him, he tried the spell. Nothing happened. Considering he started a fire during his Charms class, that was definitely an improvement. He looked up, spotting a an older student with a camera. Deciding to take a little break, Lucas brought his leg up, wrapping an arm around his knee and watched the older kid.

William didn’t notice the younger student at first until he got a bit closer. “Oh, hello,” he said, wondering how long the kid had been watching him. Kind of creepy if he had just been watching him this whole time without saying anything. “I’m William. Say, do you mind if I take some pictures of you? I want to practice taking moving pictures of people.”

Lucas hadn’t planned on watching the kid for too long. He still had charms to practice, after all. He hadn’t expected the kid to notice him, so he was a little surprised and kind of felt a little bad that all he’d been doing was staring at him. “Hi, I’m Lucas.” The question caught him a little off guard, but he recovered quickly. “Sure.” Of course he was going to help him practice. Lucas didn’t really see a reason not to.
