James stared at the parchment, trying to think of more he could add to it, but nothing was coming to him. He’d been working on this essay for over an hour and only had a little more than fifty words written. He wasn’t expecting to reach the minimum limit, but honestly, he wasn’t all that bothered by it. Since it wasn’t for Astronomy or Transfiguration, it wasn’t all that important, at least in his opinion anyway. He knew some people would disagree with him, even his aunt, Hermione, had tried to convince him that all classes were equally important, but it hadn’t worked. Some were just a waste of time.

After a few more minutes of staring at the parchment, he decided it was time to take a break. While the essay was due fairly soon, James still had plenty of time to get it done. He’d earned a break. Putting the book and parchment back in his bag, he stood up and headed out. He was bored and wondered what his friends were doing. He was sure it was something more fun than homework. James went back to the common room and grinned as he spotted his friend and cousin. “Lou!” he called, a little loudly. “I’m bored, entertain me!”

Louis did well enough in school but he wasn't exactly the type to stay stuck in a book all day. He had his favorite classes and in those, he tended to be exceptional enough for a fourteen year old. Other classes, not so much. He was looking forward to when he could drop them in his sixth year.

Moving through the common room, he'd been considering asking a boy he had been crushing on for the past while on a date when James called out his name. "How am I supposed to do that? Jumping jacks while juggling?" He asked teasingly as he shifted on his couch so that he was more focused on James.

James threw himself down in an empty chair and looked at Louis with a mischievous grin. “Yeah, that sounds great,” he said, jokingly, clapping his hands together. “Dance, puppet.” He was laughing as he said it. He wasn’t going to make Lou juggle for his entertainment, although it would certainly be funny if he did.

James fell silent, thinking about what they could do that would be fun and pass the time. Hogwarts was known for not having much but homework to do, which wasn’t fun. “There has to be something fun that can be done around here,” he said. “What were you doing? Anything exciting?”
