Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Umbridge the MOM?
There are two sides to this; OOC reasons and In Character reasons. Out of Characterly we felt that Umbridge was the more logical character to have evoked a civil war between beings and wizards given what Dumbledore's Army put her through in the Forbidden Forest and with there being no one who would back her on straight pureblooded politics we could see her easily crack down on the beings.
The in character reasons are simple. There would have been many witches and wizards who remembered the terror that came with beings that had been influenced by Voldemort during the war and her policies would have convinced them that history wouldn't repeat... or at least with the creatures. The other reason that would have turned people away from Hermione probably was the fact that in wizarding terms she'd still be rather young, and especially compared to Dolores. Dolores simply has more life (and war) experience than Granger which probably would have played a factor in the voting.
What caused the war to break out?
So far during Umbridges term as MOM she has focused harshly upon the country's magical beings by enforcing registrations, curfews, and the final straw which was forcing unemployment upon those beings who worked in the Ministry of Magic when she introduced a law where only witches and wizards could work for the ministry of magic.
Does my werewolf/vampire have to be pro-turning innocents to support their species?
Of course not! They could fight for their race simply because they don't like the way that the ministry is treating them... in fact if you wanted them to they don't even have to be of that race, they could simply be wizards who sympathise with what they are going through although many armies may have a restriction where you have to be of their race to join their army or to be in its higher ranks.
What are the races?
At this point we are only really following five races. Yes, we acknowledge the fact that the wizarding world has more than the ones listed below but for simplicity sakes we have chosen these races:
Are the Beings fighting together?
No. At this point in time they have yet to put aside their differences so at the moment its wizarding folk vs werewolves vs. vampires vs. giants vs. veelas, although there may be a point in the future where they could compromise and put aside some of their differences for the common good.
How does the Trace work?
The books and movies are inconsistent upon how the trace works, but on Red Flag here is how it works. Students who are homeschooled DO NOT have the trace on them. This is simply because the Ministry assumes that the parents are responsible enough to tell their children off for using magic when they are not supposed to and allows the freedom for children to be taught their magic year round. Since the end of the Second Wizarding war, students who attend Hogwarts will have the trace applied to them automatically upon exiting the barrier of platform 9 3/4. For that very reason, the only way to access the platform is through walking through the barrier. The trace is then lifted as students cross through the barrier again as they board the train for the next school year/return to Hogwarts following the Holiday.
With the monitoring of the trace, children who live with wizarding parents are more likely to get away with the use of magic as the trace will pick up only that magic has been used around them and not necessarily who has cast the spell.
