HOLIDAY CHEER
Melissa had been a bit upset whenever she received word from her brother about the holidays. She had been excited about being by his side while he went over things for the werewolf army, but he was going to be too busy to keep an eye on her and their parents had already booked a flight to Paris.
Her friends packed to return home. They were kind and asked what she was doing. When she told them she was staying she would brush off the sad look they gave her. Melissa wasn't some lost dog. Her family loved her and she would have been heading home if they weren't busy. She was staying at the school for her protection. Still, she wished that she could go home. Especially when she heard that he ex boyfriend, Zachary Wolff, was staying too. Melissa rolled her eyes at the thought, He's such a pain sometimes, she thought as she grabbed her jacket.
The school was pretty much empty now and she'd heard that her best friend, Talon Hobbs, hadn't been able to go home. Melissa's older brother didn't approve of him because he knew that Melissa liked him, but Melissa also didn't care what other people thought. So what if he was part giant? Melissa was a werewolf... and tall guys were attractive. Melissa smiled about as she went around a corner. She was staring at the ground and didn't realize that she was about to run straight into Talon.

Talon was pre-occupied himself. His mind churning over all the deadlines that loomed for essays. Unlike his friends he wasn't going home for the holidays. His adopted parents were going away overseas and couldn't afford to take him with them, so instead of spending time with them he was going to spend the time cooped up at school surrounded by textbooks and other unfortionate souls.
