Echo, his name is Echo, Jordan thought. It was an usual name but then it was not at all surprising because the magical world did have its share of original or old fashioned names. It also suited him and he was reminded of the Greek myth surrounding Echo and the curse placed on her by the Queen of the Gods Hera and the unrequited love she felt for Narcisse. He wondered if Echo was named after the legend but then in the story Echo was a girl and not a boy.

He couldn't help but stare at the boy. It the light that seemed to emanate from this boy was not shining on him. Leaving it would mean that he had to be back in the dark again, locked in the cupboard like was in when he was 9 years old and his father had gotten drunk and angry and punished him for something that he didn't do. Staying with this boy meant that he would never be in the dark again.

"Echo," he murmured, "such a nice name. Better than Jordan at the very least. As for crowds I don't mind them but then I guess I play Quidditch and it is better to have a crowd than none at all. Do you like Qudditch?"

He was babbling and talking about himself when all he wanted was to know about him and what made Jordan so drawn to him.

New Year's Eve Dance

While Lulu waited for @melissa to respond she felt at tap on her should and turned to see Lucy standing behind her. Lucy looked lovely in a strapless purple mini dress with a peacock design in gold. The purple made her bright red hair stand out and she looked very pretty. It was the first time that Lulu saw her friend as the pretty girl that she was and not just a fellow Hufflepuff and Quidditch team mate. Lucy asked her if she wanted to dance and her voice sounded like a purr. Lulu tilted her head a little. It was something that she did when was a little confused. Was Lucy coming on to her? She had never thought of a school dance as place to learn more about your classmates but she sure was tonight. The thing was though she did have a crush on lambert greyback she was interested in where this might go with Lucy. She gave the other girl a slow smile. "Sure," she said her voice low and a little husky. "Why not."

Lucy beamed as Lulu agreed. She had taken a chance and it seemed like it was going to pay off. Before she'd actually asked she wasn't certain at all where things would go. She had suspected that Lulu was straight, having seen the girl eyeing Lambert Greyback at least once or twice, but Lucy had been sick of being passive and waiting. Hoping things would work out. She slowly offered her hand to her team mate. The two had been friends since Lucy's first day on the team, but this was definitely something else. Lucy's feelings for Lulu had been confused for a while, and this was her chance to explore that.

"You seem surprised." She told Lulu as she began to lead the way back to the floor. "I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to ask you before we got here. It took me a while to work up the guts to do it." She said with a light smile to her teammate. Lucy was glad that if she was going to like a girl, and one she wasn't sure would like her back, at least it was someone she knew well enough to trust. Lucy maintained eye contact as the next song, and the dancing began. Lucy found that she preferred to lead with another girl. At least that was her first instinct, but she had decided fairly quickly that if Lulu decided to take the lead, she wouldn't push.

Honestly, Lucy was proud of herself in this moment. She wouldn't hide, or be nervous about who she was again... At least not if tonight went well.

Her mother would have been shocked, for Gracie was actually wearing a dress for once. And she had debated the issue long and hard, it was true, but she had eventually come to the conclusion that since everyone else would wear dresses, she would just look weird in a suit, and however much she might be opposed to dressing in a girly style, she was not quite strongly enough opposed to make herself look like a fool just because of that one factor. So she had unwillingly selected a dress from her wardrobe- she actually had quite a selection, since her family made a point of giving her them every Christmas and every birthday, and they were actually cooler than jeans in the summer- cautiously applied as little makeup as she could get away with, and now she was here. The brunette looked around her, and she wasn't impressed. So, now what happened?

To be perfectly honest he didn't expect to be approached by anyone... much less a girl who was in the same year as him. The conversation however wasn't exactly all that mind blowing. In fact it made him feel even more awkward and out of place than he had already felt. What was he meant to say in response to that anyways?

He was saved by the bell however as Zane came across the room and wrapped an arm around him. The curious teen was oblivious to the possessive nature of the action, instead reading into it a little more literally than Lulu had. He knew the battle that Zane was fighting, and therefore automatically assumed that it was simply an action to prevent lashing out and drinking from one of their classmates.

"Well lets face it, I'm not exactly the most popular kid in school, so what do I have to look forward to?"

Not long afterwards however Lulu excused herself from their presence and he couldn't help but feel a little bad about it. Was she leaving because of him?

"Did I do something wrong there Zane?"

Zane smiled when the girl complimented him in return. "Could always make yourself look all fancy for me," Zane teased. He then watched as Lulu excused herself.  He immediately shook his head when John asked if he had done something wrong. "More than likely she assumed we're on a date because of my arm around you," he explained. "Or she saw someone she likes.. see?" He nodded towards where the girl was now dancing with one of the other Hufflepuff girls. They looked adorable, really and he was glad since it would mean John wouldn't feel so bad.

"Will you dance with me?" Zane asked curiously, still keeping his grip on John. More than staking his claim, literally holding onto John kept him from accidentally murdering every other student that he came across.

Echo wasn't quite sure yet what to think of the boy who had approached him. He was being stared at which he was used to but it still made him fidget a little in discomfort. Had he done something to irritate the other boy? He couldn't think of anything. Then again, some people tended to use any excuse to pick on him a little.

"Jordan's a nice name, too," Echo protested softly, not wanting this boy to dislike his own name. When he was asked if he liked Quidditch, he wasn't sure what to say at all. "I like watching it but I don't play. I don't even know the rules." Blushing slightly as he said that, he wondered if Jordan would stop talking to him since he clearly didn't know much about Quidditch.

Jordan snorted he didn't like his name at all, either of them but then his father was the one that named him and he didn't like his father at all. Though his father was a half-blood he had been raised as a muggle as his mother had been a muggle and his dad had been a wizard. He grew up watching NBA basketball and particularly loved the Chicago Bulls and a player named Michael Jordan. That is who is father had named his after and the name Cassius had come from some boxer who had changed his name anyway but his father had thought his original name was cooler.

"I don't like my name. My dad named me after some muggle sports person. He showed me pictures of the dude once and it was very weird. The guy was jumping and trying to put this ball in a hoop though the hoop was attached to wooden board thingy and there was a net attached to it. I guess it is kind like Quidditch but without flying and flying is what makes Quidditch the best."

Echo said he liked to watch it but didn't and didn't know the rules and though he was a little disheartened it didn't want to stop talking to him or know him better.

"That's okay, maybe I can show you and teach you about Quidditch maybe you will like it more if you know the rules and maybe play in the future," he said looking at Echo closer his mind whirring with possibilities. "You would probably make a good Seeker."

The other boy really seemed to dislike his name and Echo had no clue at all how to respond to it. As a person that had also not had much experience with muggle sports, he had to agree that what Jordan was describing sounded very weird. "Well, if you don't like your name, how about I give you a nickname?" He suggested. He didn't want to be calling Jordan by something the boy didn't even like.

Echo wasn't sure how much he wanted to learn about Quidditch. It didn't interest him very much but he wouldn't mind at least understanding what was going on at games. "Maybe," he said with a slight smile of agreement. "And what does the Seeker do?" He asked when Jordan said he'd probably make a good seeker.

A blush crossed his face at Zane's tease, but to be honest John wasn't even aware of the fact that he was blushing let alone the fact that he even could blush! He did take on the man's consoling words however and followed his gaze as he pointed out that their companion was now dancing with another female student. It was a rather interesting concept because she had never come across as being that way... at least not to him...

"Yeah sure! Anything to keep our classmates from becoming vamp bait!"

It hadn't even clicked yet that Zane was trying to make a move on him yet, although maybe it was the fact that he knew exactly what his friend was going through that was causing him to be more sympathetic than romantic.

It was faint enough that only another vampire could probably see it but Zane noticed the blush on John's face and he chuckled. His friend was adorable. Was it any surprise that he wanted him to be all his own?

"That's not the only reason I want to dance with you," Zane stated in amusement as he moved closer to the other vampire and held him close as they begun dancing. "You smell so nice," he murmured before kissing the side of John's neck before pulling back with a smirk.

This is not how he pictured his first discussion with the Hufflepuff boy to turn out. Maybe it was just stupid of him to want to talk to him at all. Jordan was a just a Gryffindor with a temper and chip on his shoulder and the Echo was a kind and nice boy from Hufflepuff. They didn't have anything in common but then they were mainly talking about him and his interests and not Echo's.



He offered to give him a nickname because he didn't like his name and though he kind of liked the idea of him calling him something different to everyone else he shook his head.



"Nah, don't worry about. Maybe when I leave Hogwarts I will change my name proper to something I like better but then maybe I might begin to like my name," he said thinking to himself that if Echo said it more he would probably begin to like it.



Echo didn't seem all that interested in Quidditch but he asked what they Seeker did and Jordan couldn't help himself.



"The Seeker is the one that catches the snitch and ends the game. They are generally the lightest person on the team and have to quick and clever just like the snitch itself."



Jordan frowned. They were talking about his interests again. He wanted to know about the boy and they were talking about Quidditch and his likes.



"What about you what do you like?" he asked.

If his heart was still beating, it would be racing right now, in fact if he were still a living breathing human and Zane wasn't it probably would have been heard all the way from the Ravenclaw Common Room. He stood there in a stunned moment. Not really sure how to react. Yes, Zane was hot but he had never really been kissed by a man before.

Not only that... the last romantic encounter he had turned him into the monster that he was.

He wasn't too sure how to respond. He knew he kind of liked it but at the same time Zane was his best friend... his sponsor when it came to blood. Could they really risk it? What if they relapsed and fed upon the human students of their houses? He kept his hands upon Zane though, not wanting to hurt him.

John seemed to be shocked which Zane supposed that he could understand. That didn't mean that he was giving up right away. That would just be foolish when he could kind of sense that John had not completely disliked that. Besides, Zane was used to getting what he wanted. Keeping an eye out for possibly chaperones, he lightly nipped at his best friends neck. "I want to take care of you," he whispered, his breath against the other vampires ear. "In every way that you could possibly think of."

Zane's hot breath tingled against his ear his mind ran a tangent with the words that the boy had spoken. It began to run off with all the different things that Zane could possibly be meaning, especially after the kiss that they had shared. In fact his face kind of resembled a deer in headlights.

A kiss was one thing, but it was still a pretty quick jump to go all the way.

Especially when that kiss was the first kiss that he had ever had with another man. But perhaps he was wrong. Perhaps he was simply misreading what his friend had meant. Perhaps he wasn't meaning it in a way that was as dirty as what he thought it was but in a more innocent way.

"In what way?"
