Minki found himself wandering the halls and corridors of the castle; it was nothing like the beautiful pagoda style building he was used to at Mahoutokoro. The beautifully carved jade that had surrounded him day after day made him release a reminiscent sigh as he touched the piece of snow white jade that hung around his neck on a black cord, the piece carved into the shape of a beautiful phoenix in flight. It had been a gift from his Flying instructor the day he'd graduated Mahoutokoro, and it had been his good luck charm through the eight years he'd been seeker for the Toyohashi Tengu.
Frustration flashed through Minki's dark eyes as he remembered the injury that had cost him his entire career; that cracked hip still gave him trouble, especially in the winter months here at Hogwarts. It's not that Hogwarts wasn't beautiful; it was just terribly drab in comparison to Mahoutokoro. A draft from somewhere close by, had Minki pulling the fur-lined cloak tighter about him; he knew it had been a bad idea to wear the blue and black kimono jacket, but it was his favorite and he loved the feel of the silk against his skin, even if the cold made it like ice when he first put it on and when he happened up a stray draft in the castle.
Stopping at a window that looked out over the grounds, Minki sighed, his warm breath causing the glass to fog up at little. "I should be out there. I should be having class rather than being stuck in here," he grumbled to himself, a bit miffed that he couldn't have his students out and about. Something about it being too cold.
'These students play in the snow. Why can't they learn in it? I've flown and played quidditch matches in worse,' he thought to himself as he began to walk on.

Brandon's feet fell slowly, a little heavily as he made his way through the halls. He had never taken to dressing like a wizard, after getting used to muggle fashion during his time living in domestic bliss in muggle London, and so right now he wore a simple black sweater to go with his trousers and boots. Brandon was glad for the fact the students were currently off enjoying the snowy weather, playing. It gave him the chance to clear his head, and while he was sure these kids would be better off spending their time learning, the muggle studies professor was glad that the harder working students had an excuse to take a break, even if realistically he shouldn't encourage that sort of behaviour. Brandon rounded a corner and his eyes fell upon the flying instructor, just in time to hear his comment that he had flown in worse. The idea was mad to Brandon. As much as he appreciated that sort of dedication, he didn't understand how such a thing was sane.
Compared to the flying instructor, the Muggle Studies professor looked positively casual, not unprofessional but certainly not elegantly dressed in furs and jade, nor quite so stern. He was sweater clad, drinking coffee and honestly looked a lot more glad for his time off than he would have wanted to let on.
"Morning, professor." Brandon greeted casually as he moved close to the other, eyes cast out the window for a moment as he looked down at the students, walking alongside his peer. Brandon took a sip of hot coffee, having carried his mug with him. "I imagine the students aren't flying today, either?" He asked conversationally. He couldn't particularly guess that this situation had agitated his coworker as much as it had. Brandon regarded his coworker, he seemed stern, the kind of man not to tolerate nonsense from his students, and to have high standards for others. He reflected that if the flying instructor knew that Professor Harper had recently kissed a student, it would have been a terrible blow to Brandon's career here.

Minki seemed to feel the presence of the other before hearing him speak, because he stopped and turned slightly, looking over his shoulder at the other. "Morning professor," he returned the greeting, a nonchalance in his voice. It's not that he didn't care for the other; well....he didn't. He barely knew him. Minki was just one of those people that would rather keep to himself and not bother others, but it seemed as if the other professor wasn't aware of that.
Minki scoffed at the other's words, drawing his dark gaze back out the window at the kids playing outside. He gave a soft sigh, his warm breath fogging up the cold glass once again. "No....they're not. Which I don't understand. They can play in this, so why can't they fly in it?" he said. He could still feel his agitation, but knowing that there was nothing he could do about it, he was slowly starting to simmer down. Minki had been so disciplined as a child that fun was something he didn't know too much about.
"What about you professor? What are your plans for the day?" he asked, looking at the other again.

Brandon offered him a polite smile. Brandon didn't know his colleague well either but the only way that would change would be if the two of them spoke. The Muggle Studies teacher was a bit surprised by the fact that the professor was quite as uptight as he was regarding when the children should fly, but he could appreciate the man's dedication to his job and to education... Unless of course Minki was just bored with finding himself in the castle with nothing to do. Either way, not knowing the man, Brandon did his best to assume the best of him.
"Honestly, Professor, the students have tough lives right now. Things are scary all around the UK right now." He said, trying to be kind to his students without offending the other man. "I'm certain they could fly, and I'm willing to bet that a few of them would love to, but the snow day is as much an excuse as it is a reason... The kids need a break. I've been noticing students marks declining ever since the Saint Mungos incident. How could anyone focus on schooling while this sort of thing is happening?" He posed to the other.
"As for my plans today. Coffee, catching up on marking, planning my next lessons." He said mostly honestly, not revealing his desire to find Jack, the student that he was beginning to start a very passionate relationship with, and to spend whatever spare time he could with the handsome young man.
