` guilty conscience Samantha had heard the howl that night that Lambert Greyback had started an attack on St. Mungo's, but she hadn't been there. Most werewolves would have jumped at the idea of turning helpless victims for the war, but Samantha had her share of attacking defenseless people. In a jealous rage she had killed almost an entire family... almost. There was a survivor, but she didn't stick around to see his reaction. Samantha returned her to hometown after the incident and she was quick to put her old life back together.
after the attack hit the press samantha felt a bit guilty. she was a werewolf and her kind had caused so much damage. she was almost ashamed to go to work, but she had to... she had to help.
"Sam, isn't it almost time for your lunch break?" one of her co workers ask her. It's lunch already? she thought as she finished up with the patient that she was with and then headed out into the waiting room.

Wes very rarely covered a story himself but he felt a need to cover this one for a couple of reasons. The first being that he was unsure that any of his writers will be able to do it well enough without him having to severely edit it or send it back. The second was much more personal. Was the werewolf responsible for his families death part of this attack?
It was the first break in his "investigation" and he was going to take it.
He had never been to St Mungo's in England but he knew where it was and how to access it. Walking up to where the Welcome Witch booth was he was greeted by a bored looking witch who wasn't really paying attention to the people in the waiting area.
"Hi, my name is Wes Hunter and I am with the Daily Prophet. Would I be able to speak to someone about what occurred here last night?"

` guilty conscience The welcome witch smiled at Samantha as she came up to the desk and handed her a clipboard so that Samantha could sign out for lunch. As she signed her name she was startled by a familiar voice. A voice that she hadn't heard in a while. Samantha dropped her pen onto the clipboard and looked over. It can't be, she thought as her eyes met the young man. He said that he was with the Daily Prophet and went on to ask to talk someone about the other night.
"Wes." she said so softly that he most likely didn't hear her. He wanted to know about the werewolf attack that had happened at St. Mungo's. Samantha couldn't give him any details. She wasn't there, but even if she had been what could she have said? It would have revealed that she was a werewolf.
The welcome witch looked over to Samantha as if she were answering the young man's question. Obviously she didn't know that Sam wasn't there, but she could play along. How hard it could it be? "Wes Hunter," Samantha turned and smiled at Wes with her hands in her coat pockets, "Samantha Davis." she introduced herself and held out her hand for him to shake just in case he had forgotten her.

Just as he asked his question what he assumed was one of the St Mungo's healers appeared and signed a clipboard that the now smiling Welcome Witch handed her. Wes narrows his eyes slightly at the witch. More attentive to the Healers than you are to the actual patients. That makes sense he thought.
The healer was quite pretty and that was not something that he really took all the notice of since Jasmine's death. There was also something that was familiar about her. He doubted that he had met her before as he had not been in London very long and apart from his female writers he had not met any witches. The witch seemed to say his name as her eyes met his and he tilted his head slightly. Did he know her?
She introduced herself as Samantha Davis and the name Samantha did tickle in the back of his head but he wasn't sure why. He usually had a pretty good memory but since his families death he had a hard time remembering anything before that. She held out her hand and he took it. There was a slight tingle as their hands touched. He gave a warm smile to her.
"Nice to meet you Samantha," he said his voice dipping slightly as he said her name. "I was wondering if I could ask some questions in relation to the attack that occurred here?"

` guilty conscience Wes took her hand and shook it. He really didn't remember who she was. Samantha kept a straight face. It was good that he didn't remember, right? Then he wasn't here to connect her to what happened to his family. Still, he was asking about what had happened the night of the werewolf attack. The welcome witch looked at Samantha. She knew that Sam wasn't there that night, but most of the staff was completely unaware of why Sam took certain days off. She'd learned to make it look pretty random.
"No one here really talks about what happened that night. I myself wasn't there, but I know enough of what happened from gossip of my coworkers. So, I can try to answer to the best of my ability, but that's all I can do." was it wrong of her to admit that she wasn't there? He could easily put it together, but if her co workers hadn't she doubted that he would. "Alright. Ask away." she said hoping that she could answer these questions herself.

div align="center"] Guilty Conscience | Wes was getting a little annoyed with the Welcome Witch. He knew that this conversation didn’t exactly start in a private way but it was rude to listen to another’s conversation. He shifted slightly. “That would be great but before we begin do you think that we could take this to somewhere more private.” His gave shifted to the Welcome Witch and then back to Samantha’s pretty face. “It’s around lunch time, yes. Why don’t we sit and have chat while we eat.”

` guilty conscience Over the years of working at St Mungo's Samantha had picked up on the fact that the Welcome Witch was more attentive whenever it was a Healer walking by. It was one of the reasons that she sent her staff down to see how long people had been waiting. Creature injuries could become infected if not tended to quickly.
Wes looked at the Welcome Witch and then back at her. He asked if there was somewhere more private and the Welcome Witch rolled her eyes a bit. Samantha shrugged, "I don't see why not." she said and listened to him. Was he offering to take her out to lunch? "That sounds good. I just signed out for lunch." Samantha smiled. Was this inappropriate? Part of Samantha didn't care if it was, but then again one of her co workers was sitting there. She was sure that she would want to know what happened when she came back. Samantha didn't mind office gossip... as long as they got their facts straight.

Guilty Conscience |
Wes narrowed his eyes at the welcome witch who had rolled his eyes at his request for a little bit of privacy. When he was done with this interview he was going to contact the management of this hospital and put in a complaint about the welcome witch on duty. He may be a reporter but he still deserved respect and he didn't deserve the rudeness that this witch was directly his way. Turning his attention back to Samantha he smiled. He knew that there must a visitors tearoom somewhere in the building. The one where Harlan was laid up in certainly did. The thought of Harlan tickled something in his brain and looked at the witch walking beside him. She couldn't be witch that looked after Harlan it would just be too much of a coincidence. As they passed the directory he took a sidewise glance and saw that the tearoom was on level 5. Arriving at the lifts he pushed the up button and looked over at his companion. "Before I took up writing I considered being a Healer," he said, "but I decided that I didn't like hospitals enough to work at one and the Professors at Ilvermorney always commented on my way with words when handing in my essays so I applied for traineeship with The New York Ghost and it all went from there."

` guilty conscience Samantha gave a soft smile as Wes glanced at the Directory. He could have just asked her for directions. As they stood in front of the lift Sam had a pretty good idea where they were heading. "Hospitals can be unsettling sometimes." she said. Normally her mind would have wandered to all the time she had spent in hospitals when her parents were sick, but this time it flashed to the moment she found her best friend leaned up against the wall after the attack. All the people she had to help because the werewolves had made a stupid move. The thought made her ball up her fists in anger for a moment. It took her a little bit to realize how angry the thought had made her, but when she did she took a deep breath an unballed her fists. "My mother used to work here. I guess that's why I decided to help people, but my family always said I was a big softie." she smiled and then looked over at him at the mention of the paper that her dad worked for before he met her mother. "My father used to write for the New York Ghost, but I think he mainly fixed mistakes and stuff."
