This month was a month like very few others. This month featured a phenomenon known as a blue moon. It was a phenomenon that Hugo had been introduced to back in January, although he never anticipated it happening again so soon. For the second time this month he had been left to fend for himself whilst the pack went off on their wolf like pack business. When left alone, he couldn't sleep. He was plagued by loneliness and an overwhelming feeling of being unsafe. There was safety and security in numbers. An instinct that had formed once he had taken the pack's symbol upon his chest. It was that loneliness that drove the boy to a point of insomnia whilst his fellow packmates ran around in the crisp night air. He sat upon his bed, in a pair of boxers and a light grey tank top. Four times the full moon had risen and left him abandoned by his pack mates, but on this... the day of the fifth full moon that Hugo had finally made up his mind. He wouldn't be left alone again... he couldn't be left alone again... he would fully join his brother in arms as a werewolf. He paced in front of his bed, his heart beating fast and growing more and more confident with each passing moment. He would do this. He wouldn't be alone anymore. He would be with the pack. He wouldn't have to worry about other packs ambushing their house. He wouldn't have to worry about what would happen to Dulf that night. He would be there to join any fights that broke out. The moment he heard the click of the front door unlocking the bleach blond boy ran down the stairs, a confident smile on his face. He knew what he wanted... but he wasn't sure if Dulf would agree to it.

Dulf was exhausted, freshly returned to his human state, after revelling in predatory glory, wrestling with his packmates in their lupine forms, stalking and killing animals, it was possible that some of his family members had gone and turned more humans to their cause. Dulf though, for once, hadn't taken Wolfsbane, he had simply wanted his predatory nature to run amok in him, and let what ever would come come. Now that the moon was gone and Dulf was back in his human shape, his mind and body were at odds. His body was tired, aching, ready for sleep, and bore a couple of small fresh wounds. His mind though was racing, Exalting in perdition. full of adrenaline, and purpose and love for this pack. Love for being what he was. He felt almost reluctant to part with this glorious month where he would enjoy two periods of transformation. But of course there were no more time turners. There was no way to recapture this.
Filled with sorrow at the notion he finally entered his pack house, hearing the sound of a child's feet thudding down the stairs, subconciously Dulf put his hand on his wand, forgetting in his exhaustion for just a moment that Hugo was even in the house. Then, as the boy came into view he grinned, leaning a little against the door of the house for a moment as he caught his breath, before giving the young wizard a tight hug.
"Couldn't sleep?" He asked his young friend with a sigh. "Is something wrong?" Dulf realised that he wasn't going to be getting to sleep right away and decided coffee was the solution, making his way toward the kitchen he began to make himself a drink, pouring some pumpkin juice for Hugo. He was strapping in for a long conversation. Had the boy had a nightmare? Had he felt abandoned by his pack that he couldn't go and hunt with them? It wasn't that they didn't want him there, it was that they weren't ready yet to turn him. They weren't sure if he was emotionally equipped for it, if he could be loyal, or if the atrocity of turning a child would reach the ears of the ministry and bring down the werewolf capture squads on them.
With a wave of his wand the water was boiled and his coffee was soon made, beans grinding themselves in mid air and filling his cup. He passed Hugo his drink and sat down on the couch.

Knowing what you wanted, and telling someone who could make it happen were two completely different things. He wanted to hunt with the pack that he was unofficially officially a member of. He wanted to honor the symbol that had been etched upon his chest. He wanted to make his fellow pack-mates proud of him. But actually telling someone that could make that happen was harder than he thought it would have been. He gratefully accepted the glass of pumpkin juice from Dulf before joining him on the couch. Taking a seat right beside the man, watching as the coffee made itself for a moment before speaking. "It's weird... being here alone while you guys are hunting..."He took a sip of his pumpkin juice, leaning in close to the man that was both like a brother and a father to him. He was, after all, his guide and mentor into this new world of Lycanthrope. "I just can't stop thinking about what you guys are doing out there. Whether you're alright... whether there's another pack waiting to attack our home..."Was this how one should be approaching the possibly sensitive subject that he was trying to approach? "I guess it's all just had me thinking... I don't want to be alone anymore Dulf... I want to be with the pack... with my family... I want to fight alongside you if I need to... and well... I want to be a proper member of the pack."He looked Dulf in the eyes. The passion behind the words showing within them. Within those eyes, he would be able to see that the blonde haired Hugo was speaking the truth. That he really was tired of being alone during the full moons. That he wanted to fight alongside his new found family. "I want to be a werewolf. Turn me, please... tonight... during the full moon. I'm ready."

Dulf listened to the child, at first he was simply sure the boy was concerned, and he was ready to calm him, to promise him that the pack had all been doing this a long time. Quite aside from that, what did he want, for them all to sit around swilling Wolfsbane potion and hiding from the moon like Remus Lupin? No. Dulf was a real predator. The boy didn't understand - or so Dulf thought until he heard Hugo continue. His desire to interrupt slowly dissolved as the boy confessed his worries of a rival pack, his feelings of loneliness. Bardulf Barrows could see that the boy was reaching for something and he, after a moment found himself pushing into hugo's mind. Seeing the way he visualised the hunt, feeling his longing to be a part of it, feeling his desire to honour his pack and do his new family proud.
Dulf let the boy finish, himself. He wanted the child to say it. He wanted to let this be Hugo's idea, but he could barely contain his pride at thee notion that his young recruit was soon to be a full-fledged member of the pack, that the change would be inevitable now. Bardulf looked down at the young Granger-Weasley boy, and he thought. As much as Hermione granger and Ron Weasley had been do-gooders, the Granger girl would, at the very least, not have motivated this war. For just a moment, Dulf considered that he had taken her child from her. That he had taken the better choice's child. But it didn't matter. She had failed. She had been more concerned with fighting with the boy's father than with preventing the war. She had allowed Delores Umbridge to best her, and between her political ambition and her arguing, Hugo had been neglected. Or that was the lie Dulf told himself.
"Are you sure?" He said not able to contain his smile now. "You know that once you've been turned there's no changing back. There's no 'cure' to what we are." He said the word 'cure' almost mockingly. The idea that what they had was an affliction was insane to Dulf. Indeed he only felt himself in the full moon. Being turned had given him a release. He wanted the same thing for Hugo but he still needed to know that the young man knew what he was getting himself into. Still the Legilimens hadn't closed the mental connection between himself and the boy and the pride of what it was to be a werewolf was now flowing freely between minds.

There was a surge in confidence as he saw Bardulf's reaction. That smile was supportive right? He would say yes... right? It was that push from Bardulf as well as his reaction that caused his confident to nigh on double in size. His eyes didn't move from Bardulf's, the excitement at the fact that he would soon be a full fledged member of the pack rather than on some sort of probation fluttered in his chest. "I'm sure. I want to hunt. I want to know what it's like. I'm already not sleeping, might as well be of use to the pack, right?"
He smiled at Dulf as he finished his juice before leaning against him. This was his home now. His family. There was no way that he would look back on his life and want to go back. He was right where he belonged. Happy and loved.

Seeing the boy's enthusiasm was what Dulf needed. He didn't know that, but as soon as he saw that Hugo was so eager his mind had been made up. Hugo would be turned as soon as possible. He would ahve what he was meant to, what he was bought here for. Soon he would be a full member of his new family, a proud family who would love him for who he was meant to be. Dulf listened to the young man declare that he wanted to hunt, He wnated to experience what this was. Dulf was convinced that the young main would love it when he finally gave it a chance. Overcome with emotion he hugged Hugo. It was ironic that this was the most human he had felt in months. Knowing he was soon to take away someone else's humanity, but that was wasted on Dulf.
"We'll do it as soon as we can. We'll teach you to hunt. You're going to love this, buddy. Welcome to the family!" He declared proudly.
Dulf just sat hugging the young man for a few moments before he stood up. "I should get you something to celebrate. Is there anything you really want?" He asked the young man, softly. Dulf meant anything he'd find whatever the boy wanted. This was probably going to be the greatest celebration of his life.

Euphoria completely overcame the boy as Dulf hugged him and promised to do so at the soonest possible moment. To be perfectly honest, he couldn't remember the last time his actual parents had reacted in such a way... whether that was simply due to how young he was or due to some other reason, he didn't know. What mattered however was that he was getting the love and attention that he needed now. He truly mattered now and was accepted by those within the pack.
His head was a buzz with happiness, his body unable to show just how happy he was. Any nervousness that it was showing just moments before replaced with the overwhelming happiness that he was feeling. No more would he be alone. No more would he be the odd one out.
"Can we have tacos?! And and and some of that drink you gave me at Christmas that gave me a headache please!!!"
And almost as if he needed to convince Dulf his eyes locked onto the older man's. The man who would make him a full fledged member of the family.

Hugo's enthusiastic yell of delight was all Dulf needed to hear. It may have been weird, but honestly he did love the kid. Violent, sadistic and cruel as Bardulf ever could be, he would kill anyone who was abusive or cruel to Hugo without hesitation. He would do what he could for this boy any time he asked. Even if Dulf was a terrible parental figure that didn't mean he didn't care or that he didn't try. Just that he had no skills in that department. As Dulf looked down at Hugo his pride was clear as day on his face. Dulf pulled away from the hug. as he nodded down at the excited young man before him.
"Of course, buddy. Anything you want." It didn't even occur to him to knock back a nine year old's request for firewhiskey in the heat of this moment. He'd probably have snuck onto a muggle military base and stolen Hugo a tank if he had asked for it. Dulf didn't know how to cook tacos but he would definitely work it out. He wanted nothing more than to reward the young man for his decision to join the family. Dulf was convinced, if only because he was buying into his own rhetoric that this was where Hugo belonged. With him.
"Anything else?" He asked the young man, visualising the pack tattoo hidden by the young man's tank top. His eyes lingering there for a moment as he took in just who Hugo Granger-Weasley was. And the wolf he was going to be. Dulf had to be impressed. "I'm so proud of you, Hugo. you're doing the right thing." He told the young man.
Dulf was proud of Hugo even more so than he was himself. He was sure that bringing this boy into the fold, raising him and training him as a soldier would earn him a lot of points toward a promotion, especially given how good things looked for him after the Hogwarts attack, but for this boy to recognise that his parents' side was the villainous one, and to join the pack by his own decision? That was remarkable.

As Dulf asked if there was anything else he wanted he shook his head fiercely. There was nothing more that he wanted, and to be honest, since he adjusted to living with the pack he had come to realize that there actually wasn't much that he actually needed to have. His life had become so much simpler and so much less complex.
"I know I am. I was just nervous that you wouldn't think so."
There was no wiping the big grin from his face as he confirmed what Dulf had been trying to reassure him of. He wanted to be a full fledged member of the family and he would prove to the other pack members that age was just a number... he would prove to them that he was a good asset for them to have.
"So how is this all going to work? Are you going to bite me?"
