FLOURISH AND BLOTTS
Shopping nights were such a great invention. It was a nice winter evening. The snow and lights made for a cozy environment. During his long life, Emillian had seen many seasons come and go. It was proof that time went on. For everything except him. At first he hated this existence but as he saw everyone around him die and time faded away, he started to mind less. It seemed that lately he didn’t care for much at all. The ancient vampire sat in the bookshop, looking through some of his old works. It was crowded, everyone was getting their presents ready for Christmas. But he still found a moment for himself. “They still sell these old silly things,” he chuckled to himself as he read the back of one of his very first novels. Romance novels, huh? It had been centuries since he wrote these but they still were loved. People enjoyed a silly simple story with a tragic twist.
Lately he hadn’t been able to successfully write romans. It seemed with the lost of humanity he also lost the ability to write convincing feelings. Now he mostly wrote trillers or travel books. Those didn’t sell that well. Perhaps he should attempt to write another romance novel. But in the past he wrote from his own experiences and emotions. Which he had none of these days. How did one learn to love and feel like a human being? The vampire sighed and put the book back on the shelf. However as he did, his arm bumped into that of another person. Emil blinked up, his gaze following the arm to a person. Was this one of those cheesy encounters he once wrote about? He smiled at the other person. "My apologies, please go ahead."

Oskar picked up any shift he could at Flourish and Blotts, his 'open' schedule often left him with the night shift, which he was entirely fine with. Nothing usually happened so he had plenty of time to read. That being said the few visitors they did get at night were of course vampires. Creatures that Oskar at one point had been deeply fascinated by. Right now though he has hoping just for a quiet night as he set about cleaning up and reorganizing since the store wasn't empty but nor was it busy.
The young teens dark curls almost fell to cover his eyes, successfully masking some of his freckles but only every time he looked down to get the book he was trying to return to its proper place. It was while doing that though that the young squib, having lost himself in his work, had come into contact with a customer. He fumbled, almost dropping the last two books he was holding before he looked to Emil. For a moment it seemed to Oskar that they were the same age, but then he remembered this was nightshift and the other was likely a vampire.
He smiled though, a small blush gracing his face. "N-no need to apologise... I was just putting the book back." he nodded, glancing to the shelves again before looking up to Emil.

"Woah!" The vampire reached out to the books that almost dropped but ended up grabbing the dark haired boy's hand which caught the books. "Sorry," he said as he pulled his hand back. The boy was quicker than he'd expected despite his clumsiness. Emilian send a friendly smile into the direction of the human boy. This one was stuttering, how cute, those rosy cheeks too. This one worked here, he noted. Was he nervous because it was his first night shift? "Are you new? Or did fate prevent us from meeting up till now? I don't believe we've met," he said as he tried to peer under those dark curls. "Must be quite some work, all those people who pull out every book they lay their eyes upon only to toss it away like it is nothing." Emillian shook his head. Books could be very fragile, Emillian always took well care of his.

The young squib was flustered, startled even, by the contact. He withdrew his hand shyly once the books were back on the shelf. "I-it's okay, th-thank you." he stammered out, returning the smile as best as he would. He shook his head a little, blush deepening further at the vampire's words. "I... I u-usually spend my t-time studying when I work nights." he admitted as an explanation as to why they'd never come in contact before. He was usually hidden behind the cash register with his nose in a book, his soft brown curls likely aiding him in blending into the dark wood.
He lifted his head a little, his warm brown eyes meeting Emil's. "It... It can be." he nodded before smiling again, "My cousins are like that." he nodded, "I... I'm use to t-tidying up after people...
