Girl Time [Lily]

Ginny was in a rush, but then this was not necessarily an unusual occurrence for the redhead. In fact, she was more often hurrying than not these days, and it was a sad but unavoidable part of her existence. But even so, she did rather like to sit down every so often, and so, despite the fact that she had very little time available to her right now, she was determinedly not racing around like a headless chicken. Instead, she was lying stretched out across one of the long and lush sofas which they had inherited with the house, and which she had, after much hard work, managed to eliminate the odour of dead mice from. It looked brand new and it was a part of the house's history, so she had seen no reason to get rid of it and, as a history teacher, she had an appreciation for its worth which stretched far beyond its value.


It had been a long few weeks, and Ginny was thankful for the fact that the school year was nearly over. Then, she would have six whole weeks to relax... or not. Six whole weeks to catch up with her marking, get on top of her planning, maybe consider the curriculum... Yes, that was going to be a barrel of laughs. But it was at least somewhat less stressful than term time in that she had a great deal more time to get on with things, as opposed to being tied up with teaching classes and watching deadlines approach with an ever more worried eye. She had managed to get home for the evening tonight since Harry had been tied up at work, and she had pleaded concern over her daughter. Besides, it had been far too long since she had had any time to spend with lily potter .

Lily was home playing with her cat while she waited for her father to come home after their babysitter left. Lily wished nobody wanted to babysit her but people tried to take care of her and tried to prepare her for Hogwarts but honestly tonight Lily just wanted to play with her cat instead of spending time with her dad. 

The girl ran down the stairs and almost jumped on her mother who was stretched out on the couch. "Mommy!" she squealed and realized she should be glad her mother was home for now. Soon her mother would be with her at Hogwarts and she can see her more. 

"Buttons bit me!"

Ginny nearly jumped out of her skin as her daughter appeared in the room and launched herself like a missile at the redhead, who managed to neatly manoeuvre herself into an upright position and collect the girl on her lap. Had she been paying attention, the sound of Lily's footsteps on the stairs would have been a dead giveaway since the staircase was as old as the house and made a noise like a galleon in a storm whenever one so much as went past it, but Ginny had been nearly asleep, in all honesty, and so her daughter's appearance was a bit of a shock.

"Hey, Lils." she greeted the girl with a grin, dropping a kiss on her head. "That wasn't very nice of Buttons, was it?"
