The time had come when he would be going to Hogwarts. Kane had no clue which house he would be getting sorted into and he was looking forward to finding out. His first order of business was to find a compartment to settle into. Moving through the train, he finally found one that didn't seem to be occupied. Shoving his trunk into the overhead compartment, Kane settled into his seat and looked out the window at the people still on the platform saying goodbye to their children.
Kane couldn't help a small snort. His own old man had just dropped him off and that had been that. He couldn't wait to get to Hogwarts. Several months away from his father would be heaven.

It was here! It was finally here! His first year at Hogwarts had already arrived. It had been a long time coming for young Timothy Evans but he had survived long enough upon his brother's stories from the castle to reach it himself, albeit shaken.
He could still see the look upon his mother's face as she realized the power pole was dropping towards her. The crunch of the car as it fell upon it bounced through his head. It was an event that would haunt him at least throughout the year, but part of him was convinced that it would stick with him throughout his lifetime.
He stuck close to his older brother, and helped him to load their trunks onto the train. When he was introduced as Xavier's little brother he didn't really say much. To be honest, after the ordeal he had been in (and having to give his dog, Boomer, away to a new family as he wasn't able to bring him with him) he had become rather shy and guarded and very much at this moment he felt safest beside his brother.
But as the train blew its whistle and began to pull away from the station, that very spot of safety pushed him out of the compartment insisting that he would be better off finding friends of his own. It had been clear that he was no longer welcome there, and he awkwardly made his way through the train.
Many of the compartments were full and the boy didn't really feel like being around a large group of strangers at this point. That is when he found one that had only one child in it. Tentatively he opened the door and slowly poked his head into the fairly empty looking compartment.
"Can I join you?"

Kane wasn't completely immune to the excitement that came with being a first year. He wasn't the most expressive boy in the world though so he looked practically bored almost all the time. It didn't help that he was slowly actually becoming bored. No one had come into his compartment and all seemed to have friends already.
As the train took off from the station he was still on his own. Well, fine then. He had just about resigned himself to being alone during the trip when another boy about his age appeared. "Sure thing, it's just me in here," he said, deciding then and there that whoever this boy was was going to be his friend. Everyone else could bugger off.

 Timmy was completely unaware that Kane had already become very possessive of him. The possessiveness was something that he had thought that only his brother would have, and not someone that he had known for only three seconds. The boy took a seat opposite the other boy. Timmy was dressed rather muggle like in a pair of jeans and a black button up shirt. The knees of his jeans showed obvious wear and tear, showing the eleven year old's financial background and lack of parental care. Where as he could tell from the clothes upon the other boy's back that that wasn't really the case for Kane. "I'm Timmy by the way."

Kane watched as the other boy sat down. He looked like an urchin in Kane's opinion but that was fine by him. "I'm Kane. Are you starting your first year, too?" He asked as he focused his attention onto his newfound companion.

As Kane asked him what year he was in, he felt butterflies fluttering in his stomach. He wasn't too sure why that was, but he was guessing that it was simply due to nerves about joining his older brother in attending a school where they finally belonged. They had been bullied and degraded by kids their age and their parents, and now they were both where they belonged and it was a little scary to him. His brother already had friends. He was already known around the school, and soon he would be leaving school to join the world as an adult whilst Timmy was only just starting out. "Yeah, and to be honest I'm a little nervous about it... my brother says that I'll be fine and that Hogwarts will be a lot better than staying with our parents... but a part of me is scared that my classmates wont behave any differently to the ones I had at school..."He ran a hand through his hair. His worry showing through. "What about you? Is it your first year too?"
