Being upon the Hogwarts Express was different to what it was last year. Last year he was filled with nerves over whether he would make any friends and what house he would be sorted into or even if he would belong at Hogwarts. But this year it was different. He had wasted no time in ditching his family and searching the Hogwarts Express for one of two things. An empty compartment and his best friend, Scorpius. He thought Hogwarts was going to be hell when he first asked his father out of desperation about the sorting, but it was a haven.

He was already dressed in as much of his school uniform as he could get away with in the muggle uniform; a white shirt, his green and silver slytherin tie, black pants, black socks, and polished leather shoes so any first year would be able to tell that he had experienced Hogwarts before even if they couldn’t already guess that he was the youngest son of Harry Potter, but as he searched the train he unexpectedly bumped into someone sending himself ass over kettle within the hallway.

Well looks like his second year has started off about as brilliantly as the first…

Scorpius had not exactly had the best summer, aside from the moments he got to spend at the Potters or at various other friends places. Indeed, he had done his best to avoid going home at all.

Luckily, he had enough friends that he'd been able to stay with them for bits at a time throughout the summer holiday and now it was time to go back to Hogwarts. Not having the  nerves a first year might have, Scorpius was much more confident than he had been the year before.

Scorpius had changed into his school uniform early on to avoid having to do it later. After stuffing his trunk into the overhead of a compartment and generally reserving it for himself and Albus, Scorpius went off in search of Albus.

He didn't have to look very far since soon Albus was bumping into him. "Well, that's one way to start the school year off," Scorp chuckled teasingly.

If someone were to ask if he had been planning on running into his friend before he had boarded the train he would have denied it, but now if someone were to ask he might not deny it; Scorpius was his friend after all.

The first thing that he noticed was that Scorpius’ hair was longer than it had been when they had finished their first year. In his oppinion it wasn’t a look that suited his best friend but he wouldn’t admit it without the use of veritaserum. He knew that Scorp was going through hard times, and telling him he didn’t like his hairstyle was more likely to put distance between them than help his best friend.

“How are you holding up, Scorp?”

Summer would have been tough for both of them but Albus knew that Scorpus’ summer woould have been tougher than his own.

“Meh,” Scorp said with a shrug. His dad sucked and Scorpius wanted very little to do with the man these days. “Cone on, I claimed a compartment for us, need help with your things?” He was empty handed since he'd already put all his stuff into the compartment and didn't kind being helpful for his friend.
